- He managed to dictate terms even at the young age of ten. He convinced his family members that he would not be a farmer like everybody else, forcing them to look out for alternatives to keep the young boy engaged in academics.
- He did not do well in academics either and was married at a young age of 18.
- In order to sustain himself and his new family, his father decided to asset up a business. However, this also turned out to be a failure and his business soon ran into bankruptcy.
- At the age of 24, he decided to study law. He understood that his orating skills were not an ordinary talent.
- Numerous people would visit his court hearings just to listen to his speech even if they were not involved in the case directly or indirectly.
- His famous speech at the House of Burgesses, Virginia gave him instant fame and glory. It was here that he coined his famous one-liner “Give me liberty, or give me death”.
- He was elected as the Governor of Virginia for five terms.
- He soon became the member of the First and Second Continental Congress.
- A strong critic of the Constitution, he was one of the authors of the Bills of Rights that allowed and safeguarded the people’s rights and freedom.
- He died of stomach cancer on June 6, 1799 at the age of sixty-three.
