Biography For Lil Wayne
Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., better known by his stage name Lil Wayne, was born on September 27, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana. During his school days, Carter enrolled in the gifted program of Lafayette Elementary School and also in the drama club of Eleanor McMain Secondary School. This showed he had an inclination towards arts and music.

This charismatic American rapper joined the Cash Money Records as a teenager. He met the owner of Cash Money Records, Bryan Williams, at the age of eleven. Later, Bryan included him in most Cash Money-distributed songs. He also played a role of the Tin Man in his middle school drama production of the Wiz.
He worked on the album True Story with B.G. But his first debut album came in 1997 with the release of Get it how u live! This was Lil Wayne’s first album with the Hot Boys rap group. 18 year old Wayne was the youngest group member. In 1999, Lil Wayne’s solo hit Tha Block is Hot went double platinum and was at the number three spot on Billboard's chart. He was also nominated as the “Best New Artist” by Source Magazine the same year. Wayne married Antonia “Toya” Johnson in 2004 but got divorced in 2006. With the release of Tha Carter in 2004, Tha Carter II in 2005 and Tha Carter III in 2008, Lil Wayne reached higher popularity and even dubbed himself as the “best rapper alive”. He got the “lyricist of the year “award at the 2008 BET awards. Nirvana is one of his favorite rock bands and he always cites them as a major influence in his music.
