Biography Of Martha Stewart
Martha Helen Kostyra, popularly known as Martha Stewart, was born to a large middle class family of Polish descent on August 3, 1941 in New Jersey. Martha’s parents, Eddie and Martha Kostyra, had modest earnings but believed in strong work ethics.

Martha’s father was very interested in gardening. Young Martha learned a lot of gardening skills from her father, and cooking and sewing skills from her mother. Her parents believed that these skills could be useful to her in future.
Martha was a brilliant student. Along with her studies, her inclination towards extra curricular activities made her quite popular among her peers and teachers. Her involvement in various clubs including the school newspaper and the art club marked the beginning of her entertainment career.
During her high school years, Martha’s decision to try modeling jobs in New York proved fruitful. She was hired instantaneously for several magazines and television commercials. But she did not leave high school and continued to excel in her studies.
While continuing as a model, she attended college. Her majors in college were architectural history and history. While attending college, she met her husband Andy Stewart and married him in 1961.
Martha went to work as a stockbroker for a short time as her modeling career slowed down a bit. She also tried her hand in catering and placed a small ad in a local newspaper. Soon, orders were flowing and her catering business grew. Martha also catered a party for Andy’s publishing firm and met many editors and important people. During this party she was offered an opportunity to publish a book on catering. Her book “Entertaining” was published in 1982 and is still a bestseller. Two more cookbooks followed and she suddenly became quite popular and started appearing on television. Her expertise on homemaking also grew. In 1990, she got divorced but continued to work.
Martha Stewart’s goal was to introduce a magazine that showed how to achieve great results in gardening, cooking, and crafting. Her dream came true in 1990 when “Martha Stewart Living” made its debut on television. Martha was also offered a chance to host her own show. In 1996, Martha was named one of America’s Most Influential People.
