Famous People From Idaho  

According to archeological evidence, people have been living in Idaho for more than 14,500 years. The United States has had the privilege of getting many famous people who were born in Idaho. Here is a list of famous people from Idaho.

Famous People from Idaho:

Ezra Taft Benson: Ezra Benson was born on August 4, 1989 in Whitney, Idaho. He was a son of a farmer and spent his early life working in the fields, milking cows and doing other household chores. He matriculated from the Oneida Stake academy and attended the Utah State University. He served in the army during World War I He also served an LDS mission to Great Britain and stayed there fro two years. He returned to United States and enrolled at Birmingham Young University. In 1926 he graduated from the university and completed his Masters degree in the Iowa State College. In 1939, he was elected as the executive secretary of the National Council of Farmer’s Cooperatives. As a secretary, he became acquainted with the nation’s political leaders and also served as president of the Mormon Church’s Washington DC. In 1952 he was appointed to the cabinet post of Secretary of Agriculture by President Dwight Eisenhower.   

A farmer’s son, Ezra always supported flexible prices for agricultural products and believed that “no real American wants to be subsidized. He always thought that every American Farmer must stand on his own feet. He was also opposed to communism and was outspoken, courageous and committed to his work. He died on 30 May 1994.

Sarah Palin: Sarah Palin was born on 1964 in Sandpoint, Idaho. She was a model, but soon turned to politics. She was a member of Wasilla, Alaska, city council from 1992 to 1996 and was the mayor from 1996 to 2002. In November 2006, Palin was elected the governor of Alaska. She is, in fact, the youngest and the first female governor of Alaska. Sarah Palin was the nominee for the 2008 United States Presidential election together with Senator John McCain.

George Boyington:  A courageous World War II hero, George “Pappy” Boyington was an American ace fighter who served as the commander of the Black Sheep squadron. He received the Medal of Honor for his courage and bravery. He shot down 26 planes and spent his final months as a prisoner of Japan.
